THE SUN IN THE CELLS

In each cell
lies the sun
but obscured
by the darkness
of tense and fearful life.

In summer
when we meet
that changes,
the gods appear,
smiling, nodding, bringing trust and peace;
great friendships
natural connections,
with others all around,
bring joy;
the blinds open
the cells shine,
now free and unafraid -
and the whole world bursts into light.
